The Vans OTW sub-brand has been around for almost 2 years now. The brand stands for art, just like us. Each year OTW adds one or two advocates, this year they have signed up Lupe Fiasco and Chris Kong. They give each artist a signature shoe.
Chris Kong is a toy designer that has founded two toy companies, Made By Monsters & Garage Works Industries. This toy designer doesn’t only design his own toys, but he has collaborated with other artists like, Ron English and BAPE.
Chris Kong’s signature style is the Alcon, an evolved version of the Alomar.[one_third] [/one_third] [one_third] [/one_third] [one_third_last] [/one_third_last]
Here is the official Alcon description from Vans-otw.com
THE ALCON IS A SLIMMED-DOWN, NARROWED-UP VERSION OF THE ALOMAR. A SLIGHTLY LONGER TOE AND THINNED COLLAR PATTERN ARE THE SMALL ADJUSTMENTS THAT MODERNIZE THIS STYLE—BASED ON THE CURRENT ALOMAR CUPSOLE FOR COMFORT AND SUPPORT.
PREMIUM MATERIALS – FULL GRAIN, WOOL, OILED LEATHER, OR HEAVY WASHED CANVAS; METAL EYELETS; TONAL LASER ETCHED TONGUE LABELING; PREMIUM TEXTILE LINING; WAXED COTTON, OR SHINY POLYESTER LACES.
CLEAN-LOOKING CUPSOLE WITH DETAIL STITCHING INSPIRED BY THE HIGH-END SNEAKER MARKET. A FULL-LENGTH EVA MIDSOLE KEEPS IT COMFORTABLE ALL DAY LONG, WHILE THE SUBTLE HEEL TAB LOGO AND TREAD PATTERN ARE A DISTINCT TIE BACK TO THE VANS HERITAGE.
